Markus holds a MEng degree in metallurgical engineering from the University
of Pretoria, and joined the Pyrometallurgy Division at Mintek in 2014. He
is a Member of the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy
(SAIMM).
Markus currently works in the New Technology group in the Pyrometallurgy Division of Mintek, where he is responsible for modelling and experimental work related to pyrometallurgical processes (mainly thermochemistry and CFD modelling, and experimental validation of these models). Much of his current research focus is on ferro-alloy slag chemistry as well as copper smelting. He also regularly teaches courses in thermodynamic modelling, slag design, copper and ferro-alloy production, at industry partners and universities.
Markus is currently writing up his PhD thesis.
